1.      James Campbell, whom the Toronto Star calls "Canada's pre-eminent clarinetist and wind soloist" and one of Galper’s world-renowned clarinet students. Abe’s widow Charna recently told me that Jim is creating a CD of Abe’s work. I will keep you posted about its availability. Abe’s playing is truly legendary! In my opinion, he had the most beautiful tone in the world.
   

1.      Avrahm Galper, former principal clarinetist, Toronto Symphony. Abe’s method books and his book of Klezmer music are available from Mel Bay Publications, Inc.
   

1.      Michael Rusinek, principal clarinetist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Michael studied with Abe Galper and his playing exemplifies the beautiful tone that Abe espoused.
   

1.      Elaine Sweeney, Director of Instrumental Chamber Ensembles, Conrad Grebel College, U. Waterloo. Elaine is a former Galper student.
   

Composers•

1.      Rick Sowash. Rick’s music always highlights the clarinet’s voice and versatility. In 2005 he composed a “Lullabye” as part of his Trio con Brio for violin, Bb clarinet, and cello in memory of my mother, Ellen Lewis Field. Suffice it to say, Rick is my favorite living composer! He has written more than three dozen tonal, melodic works for clarinet.
